Here are a couple of cute Halloween ideas from
Better Homes & Gardens

Make a Vintage Star Ornament for Halloween
Create these easy vintage-look Halloween ornaments from a purchased graphics, glitter, tinsel, and jingle bells.

What You'll Need

•Acrylic circle to fit in center of star
•Photo spray adhesive
•Purchased 9- or 12-inch star
•Crafts glue

•Glitter: black or orange
•Tinsel: black or orange
•Hole punch
•12-inch piece of 1/4-inch-wide ribbon
•5 gold jingle bells

How to Make It
1.Cut a circle from a Halloween graphic, such as a photo or postcard, the size of the acrylic circle.
2.Lightly spray the front side of the graphic circle with adhesive. Press the adhesive side of the circle onto one side of the acrylic circle. Spray the back of the graphic circle with adhesive and center on the star; press in place.
3.Apply crafts glue over the front of the star up to the edges of the acrylic circle using a paintbrush. Sprinkle glitter on the wet glue. Let glue dry. Tap off the excess glitter. Apply glitter on the back of the star if desired.
4.Apply glue along the edge of the acrylic circle. Press tinsel into the glue; let dry. Punch a hole in the top point of the star. Insert the ribbon through the hole, bring the ribbon ends together, and knot about 1 inch from the ends. Glue a jingle bell at each point of the star; let dry.

What is Oilcloth? Oilcloth Tablecloths

What is Oilcloth?

Oilcloth has been around for about 100 years. You may remember walking into your grandmas kitchen and seeing a similar tablecloth on her kitchen table. It was relatively inexpensive, and often sold by the foot or yard in hardware or yardage stores. The original oilcloth was created by coating block-printed canvas or linen with linseed oil resin With age, the resin and design would crack and flake off.

Today’s high-tech version is a vinyl-permeated cotton mesh. It won’t crack and peel but has the same shine and color vibrancy of the oilcloth of yesteryear.

Some of today’s oilcloth is printed using some of the vintage designs, in many cases using the actual plates and rollers that were used for the vintage oilcloth.

Our tablecloths are durable even when used with hot plates. Waterproof and protected with a clear finish fade, stain, and soil resistant. They are easy to wipe clean with a warm, soapy sponge. Do not machine wash, or dry. Look at the pretty designs

Some Words of Wisdom From Will Rogers

1. Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco.

2. Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.

3. There are 2 theories to arguing with a woman...neither works.

4. Never miss a good chance to shut up.

5. Always drink upstream from the herd.

6. If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

7. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it and put it back in
your pocket.

8. There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading.

The few who learn by observation.

The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for
themselves.

9. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad
judgment.

10. If you're riding' ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then
to make sure it's still there.

11. Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier'n puttin' it back.

12. After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started
roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him.

The moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut.

ABOUT GROWING OLDER...

First ~ Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age
and start bragging about it.

Second ~ The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

Third ~ Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people
to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the
roads weren't paved.

Fourth ~ When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think
of Algebra.

Fifth ~ You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or
leaks.

Sixth ~ I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top.

Seventh ~ One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is
such a nice change from being young.

Eighth ~ One must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been.

Ninth ~ Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.

Tenth ~ Long ago when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was
called witchcraft. Today it's called golf.

And finally ~ If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have
anything to laugh at when you are old.

Cherry Cupcakes YUMMY

I made these yummy cupcakes for a MY Thirty-One Party I had last night. They turned out really cute. I used the red foil cupcake liners and the cherry cupcake picks

Ingredients

1 (18.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix (I like the Betty Crocker Dark Chocolate)
1 1/3 cups water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
1 (16 ounce) can vanilla frosting

How To

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees, use the red foil cupcake liners with your cupcake pans.
In a mixing bowl, combine cake mix, water, oil and eggs; mix well. Spoon batter by 1/4 cupfuls into paper-lined muffin cups. Spoon a rounded teaspoon of pie filling (about 2 cherries and some glaze) onto the center of each cupcake. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted on an angle toward the center comes out clean. Remove to a wire rack to cool completely. Frost cupcakes; top with cherry cupcake pick

Your guests will be surprised by the cherry center :)

POP's 86th Birthday Nautical and Patriotic Cupcakes

Friday the 28th of June was my dad's 86th birthday. The grandkids and great-grandkids call him POP. He is a retired Chief E-9 from the US Navy, therefore the nautical / partiotic theme. Sunday we celebrated a combination Father's Day / Birthday. These were the cute little cupcakes we served. The white ones are mini key lime pie cupcakes, the "sand" is crushed graham crackers and they are topped with our nautical cupcake picks. I used the star cupcake liners from our patriotic cupcake liner set.
The larger chocolate cupcakes are iced with peanut butter frosting. The "sand" is crushed Reese's Peanut Butter candies and the sea shells are actually candy coated chocolates. I used the
to represent the ocean waves.
The mini chocolate cupcakes are topped with our

Blue Blue My Love is Blue Victoria Magazine

The latest issue of Victoria magazine featured a Blue & White theme. I don't think blue & white has been as popular lately with all the PINK lovers around. I was just saying I think it is coming back this year. The cover is just beautiful. Of course because of my love for vintage hankies I liked seeing the monogrammed hankie & the Madeira hankie shown with the teacups.
